1997 hardback limited edition of 2000 printed it was the catalogue for the exhibition of the same title at The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, 1997. The book is illustrated by 19 large full-colour plates of the work in the show; they are all oil paintings and consist of nudes and/or large studies drapery; this was the first appearance of drapery paintings in her work – she would go on to create a solo show exclusively focussing on this subject – “Phantom” in 2008.The book consists of 56 pages all in very good condition clean and crisp no marks or markings spine tight and secure the dust jacket is also in very good condition. Sold and posted in the UK Watt was born in Greenock, Scotland. She studied at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1988.[4] While a student, she came to national attention by winning the 1987 John Player Portrait Award and as a result was commissioned to paint a portrait of The Queen Mother. Her first works to become well known were dryly painted figurative canvases, often female nudes, in light-filled interiors. An exhibition of her work entitled Fold in 1997 at Edinburgh’s Fruitmarket Gallery was the first introducing fabric alongside these figures, simultaneously suggesting a debt to the 19th-century French painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, as well as pointing to the possibilities of abstraction. In 2000, Watt became the youngest artist to be offered a major solo exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art; her exhibition, titled Shift, comprised 12 huge paintings featuring fabric alone. In 2003, Watt was shortlisted for The Jerwood Painting Prize.
