Description

A Ward Lock Red Guide of any vintage is a useful book for anyone travelling to an unfamiliar area, and they were issued and re-issued many times from their first appearance in the late 19th century. This 1974 edition focuses on the Scottish lowlands, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as providing helpful information about the route from Carlisle via Hawick. Our copy is in very nice condition, still protected by its unclipped dust jacket, which is almost unworn apart from 2 small chips to the top edge and sunning of the spine. The book itself, bound in red with gilt title etc on the spine, is in ‘as new’ condition, firmly bound, and clean & bright inside. There is one tiny misprint on the Contents page, under the heading ‘Carlisle to Edinburgh’: the first line reads ‘Tje Route via Hawick’…
